MS Project: Problem with corrupt files

Hi folks.

We are having an intermittent (twice in the last 3 weeks) problem with a file becoming corrupted. In both instances the files are MS Project files (suffix .msp) and the corruption occurs after the last timestamp on the file. For example we have a file with a timestamp of Monday, we also have a report from the file showing the correct data on Tuesday but when we look at the file on Wednesday it has been changed.

The changes (if it is relevant) only affect custom fields not the main body of the plan. All the custom field named are lost and returned to the default, "Textnn" etc; and the contents of those which are set up with a list of possible values have completely random values (appearing as unusual fonts).

We are able to fix the individual problem using backed up files but are concerned that the problem may spread.

Any suggestions as to the cause would be gratefully received.

Kevin
