Hi All, I know this is a bit off-topic for this forum, but I thought I'd throw it out anyway...

Thanks to you all, I have become somewhat proficient in Excel VBA. However, I have a new project that I am thinking to start and I'm looking for some advice.

In Excel I made a pretty good, working "flashcard" program to help me learn German (although you can use it for other things). Since Windows Mobile doesn't support VBA, I was thinking to give a try and do it with VB. I am unsure how to start though. I downloaded Visual Studio 2012, but since I don't have any experience in this program I don't know how to proceed.

Can anyone give me some advice? A site that can help me get started perhaps?

Thanks in advance...

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
I also have an awesome VBA program that I want to convert to mobile. I'm a long way from it though. And here's why. VB programming is not like Mobile VB programming. You will need to download either Eclipse or Android Studios to accomplish what you want. I chose Android Studios because I believe it will replace Eclipse one day and I don't want to learn Eclipse for nothing. I don't know if Android Studios is able to make apps for Windows phones but I don't see why not. Google it. Next I have to learn how to program in Android Studios so I bought a book for $9.99 on the play store. After I read it, I'll be able to make my app. The point is, you will have to create your app from scratch using a completely different language that you probably don't already know how to use. Good luck.

VB.Net should be OK for Windows Mobile using Visual Studio Express. Depends what mobile platform you're looking at supporting. Android = Java, iOS = Objective C (on a Mac usually).

If your project is not worth the time you will spend learning to code in another language, I suggest you hire someone. I like fiverr.com because you can request anything. I recommend you post a gig request on fiverr about what you want. A project like this should pay about $30 or more depending on how complicated you need it. But you can make it pay as little as $5.

Thanks all for your input. From a standpoint of personal curiosity, I would give learning Visual Studio a shot - I'm using Windows Mobile anyway. However, is there not a language that is "common" to more than one platform? Like something that compiles to different devices?
