No Data before Combo Box

I have a form with a combo box that finds a record on the form. When the form opens it goes to one of the records but the combo box is still blank. I want the form to load empty until a record is selected in the combo box. Thank you in advance.

Sorry I am relatively new to access. How exactly do I do this? I have a button that when i push it It opens the form "deletereason" the form has a RecordScource of "ActiveAprovedReasons" which is a query. There is a combo box in the form combo11 that has a rowsource of "SELECT [ActiveAprovedReasons].[LastName], [ActiveAprovedReasons].[Reason] FROM ActiveAprovedReasons;". Lastly the combo11 box has a macro in afterupdate to searchfor record with a where clause of ="[LastName] = " & "'" & [Screen].[ActiveControl] & "'"
