Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out a way to lock Field1 until Field2 has been populated. However, I'm very new at access and I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

Current code that's not working:
Code:
Private Sub Field1_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If Me.Field2 Is Null Then Me.Field1.Enabled = False
Else Me.Field1.Enabled = True
End Sub

Please advise!

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Try putting your code in the OnCurrent Event instead of the BeforeUpdate Event

and also the AfterUpdate event of 'field2', which, when referring to forms, would be 'controlname2'

WHERE
controlname2 is the Name of the control containing field2
