I have a W/sht with dates in the format 8-Mar, my regional settings for Vista are set to English(Australia) which sets the date format for the above date as DD/MM/YYYY, but when I enter 08/03/2010 into a cell it formats as 3-Aug. Is this a fault, or am I missing something simple?

Excel Facts

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
some thing wrong with regional setting. go to control panel and gain set it for English(austsralia). remove the formats and reformat. and see

Another way is go to Format Cells>Custom
And in the box under Type:
Type in mm/dd/yyyy
