My application runs correctly in my computer (currently using Excel XP). When looking at References in VBA Editor I have the following:

Microsoft Visual Basic For Applications
Microsoft Excel 10.0 Object Library
Ole Automation
Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library
Microsoft Office 10.0
DSO Document Properties Reader 2.0
Microsoft Office DB Service Component 1.0 Type Library

When I run my application in other computer, using Excel 2000, I get Error 429, ”ActiveX component can’t create object”. Looking at References in VBA Editor I have the following:

Microsoft Visual Basic For Applications
Microsoft Excel 9.0 Object Library
Ole Automation
Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library
Microsoft Office 9.0
DSO Document Properties Reader 2.0
Microsoft Office DB Service Component 1.0 Type Library

The statements where I’m getting the mentioned error are:

On Error Resume Next

Set objFile = CreateObject("DSOFile.OleDocumentProperties")

objFile.Open (nombre)

Note: I’m trying to retrieve a file’s author. I know that it exists too DSO Document Properties Reader 1.2 : does it make any difference with respect to Excel version that I am using in the computer where I get the error?.

I have a folder with DSOFile (2.0) installed in both computers.

Could you please tell me what am I missing?. Are there some differences if I’m running Excel 97 instead of Excel 2000?

Thanks a lot for your help.

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
i am having a similar problem with setting the dso object.

You must register dsofile.dll in your computer; "google" for regsvr32 and I think you'll solve your problem.
