Can I return text in a pivot table

Quick example I have 3 columns. A is Home Team. B is Away Team. C is game number for home team. What I want the pivot table to look like is: the rows would show the home team, the columns would show the game number and the crossing of these 2 would show the away team but I can't seem to return a text value. Any ideas?

You can't do that with a pivot table I'm afraid. You would have to use formulas.

Maybe you could use a query table (not pivot table) with a cross tab result. Use the MAX function. SQL something like (from memory, unchecked)

TRANSFORM MAX(away)
SELECT home
FROM source
GROUP BY home
PIVOT `game number`

I'll have a search for some old examples.
