When I have my workbook activate/deactivate events, it breaks my macro:

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_Deactivate()
    Application.DisplayFormulaBar = True
    Application.DisplayFormulaBar = True
    Application.DisplayStatusBar = True
    Application.Caption = "Microsoft Excel"
End Sub

Doesn't allow the copied range to carry over:

Code:
...
    Selection.Copy
    Windows(destinTXT).Activate
    Range("A1").Select
    ActiveSheet.Paste

Anyone know the best way to do this?

Have you tried copy/paste without deselecting the workbook & triggering your event?

Your copy code can be simplified to this:
Code:
Selection.Copy  Workbooks(destinTXT).Sheets("Sheet Name Here").Range("A1")

This is just a sample, though--not tested. You would need to change the workbook and sheet names to fit your data.
