Dockable windows in developer mode

I've been developing macros in in VBA for quite some time but the general environment has changed and I can't find a way of re-configuring the windows.

The windows no longer seem to be 'dockable'. For example the

Project Explorer - window does not dock
Properties - window does not dock
Locals - window does not dock

I've then found the TOOLS - OPTIONS - Docking Tab and have ' checked' the boxes I wish. (No idea why or when they became unchecked).

Once the appropriate buttons have been checked then there appears to be NO way to resize. I just have the X button to close the window. I can move the bottom of the window up or down but can not resize the width.

Any help appreciated

Yes - I'd been working with the problem for a while then it got worse and almost impossible to work with.

Thanks again
