Compile Error: Automation type not supported in VB

Hi

the line:

Dim MyResponse As VbMsgBoxResult

which works on Excel 2000, is not working on Excel 97 (which we have at work). I'm getting the error:

Compile Error: Automation type not supported in Visual Basic.

Is there a 97 equivalent or a workaround?

Why not just dim the variable as Variant?

Not best practice I know but should work.
