Conditional Formating for: IF B1 contains THEN A1 displays specific syntax

Looking to create a conditional formatting code that would allow the following to occur:

IF the data in column B1 contains "//UDMN" THEN populate column A1 with state code "MN"

I have a list of several (really it's a table) that has this listed out where it shows others such as "//CEFL" = FL, etc... etc...

Looking to write a code that either would pull from that table or a code that I would just manually populate and then drag through column-A (if that makes sense).

Any ideas on best approach and / or what the conditional formatting code would look like?

Thank you!
Rick

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
more than about ten conditions and to do it often would suggest VBA that watches a range and then updates as required, or a simple VLookup maybe
