Hello!

I'm sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere, though I couldn't find it if it had.

I'm using a logical formula that returns a number value based on whether the condition is true or not. The formula is like this: =IF(A1>A2,A2/A1,A1/A2) and works fine for me.

I want to use conditional formatting to highlight the cells which are false and subsequently use the part of the formula I have underlined to generate the number value.

Most of the guides I have found only tell me how to do this if the logical formula returns some text (i.e. "False").

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If I have haven't been clear with anything, please let me know and I'll try to explain in more depth.

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.

Assuming you mean what formula should the conditional formatting be to apply to cells where the FALSE part of your cell formula is evaluated, the CF formula is
Code:
=A1 < A2
That will evaluate as TRUE for the CF to then be applied to that cell

Jack,
Wouldn't that be =A1<=A2?
