Count of Unique Values in a Column of data with Comma Delimitted, Multiple Cell Values

I would like to determine if there is an Excel Formula solution for counting the number of unique values in a column where cells have multiple values separated by a comma.
Please see the illustration below.

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
What version of Excel are you using?

Thanks Fluff - I updated the "Account Details" with Office 365 and Windows

How about
Excel Formula:
=ROWS(UNIQUE(TRIM(TEXTSPLIT(TEXTJOIN(",",,A2:A6),,","))))
