Hi. I'm hoping that someone out there will be able to help!

I have c.600 rows of data with three important columns (Name, sector, valuation).

I would like a formula to return the number of companies in each sector (e.g. housebuilder, Tech) that sit within each quartile of valuation.

I can work out the quartiles (using percentile.inc), manually sort by quartiles, then sort by sector and manually count them. But there must be an automatic way in excel to do that.

Particularly as I need to do it every three months for twenty years....

Thanks for any insight you can give!
