Do we have to embed different Excel file for each Powerpoint graph?

Hello

Embedding xls files of Excel graphs into ppt is useful to be able to update the underlying data but it seems we cannot have one xls embedded and multiple graphs shown in the ppt from this single xls.

Is that true or am I missing something?
It is hugely inconvenient and inefficient!
