End "End Mode"

Is there any way to completely disable "End Mode" so that the End key does what it used to do, i.e. jump to the last row? I would even begrudgingly accept a multi-key shortcut that does the same thing.

Apparently we are now forced to endure "End Mode", a "feature" that does what Ctrl+ArrowKey already did and still does. They removed a key that did what no other combination does (that I can find), and made it redundant with an established shortcut.

Ctrl+End doesn't work because that brings me to the last row and column. Ctrl+ArrowRight doesn't work if there are blanks between the current cell and the last row. I found one forum that provided a macro to solve the problem, which seems ridiculous to me that it's come to that. Please tell me I'm missing something!

Thanks.

Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
