Excel 2007 won't keep formatting upon closing

Help. We have a few users that work for hours on and Excel spreadsheet, save often, close the file, only to find the next time they open the file, all of their formatting is gone. The formulas are there, but formatting is gone. We have installed the removestyles.xlam, but that is really not a good fix.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the workbooks were old (2002) style, and have not been properly saved as 2007.
