This may sound impractical, but I need a quick way to filter columns. Does Excel offer anything similar to a slicer where a user can quickly click on a 'Type' and have the columns be filtered. It was my understanding Slicers are used to quickly filter Pivot Tables, while I need to simply quickly filter standard columns in a sheet.

For example:

Population Table

CityStateCapitalRk
AustinTX111
BostonMA124
CharlotteNC17
ChicagoIL3
ColumbusOH115
DenverCO121
Fort WorthTX16
IndianapolisIN114

Oklahoma CityOK127

</tbody>

Need a quick way to click Filter by State & Capital. Via Excel Slicer (?) or other.

Example Slicer/Dashboard/Buttons

State
TX
MA
OH
CO
IN
TN
OK
AZ

*Note I realize it seems impractical to have a slicer or a dashboard with 50 buttons, but this is just an example and the data I'm filtering will have far less then 50 buttons (aprx 5-10). I also realize I can simply filter columns and then click on the the type columns (ex. State/Capital), but this requires additional clicks. I don't want to have to select the the group of columns > Filter > then select Capital=1 > then select State=TX. Is it possible to filter via 1-2 clicks via either clicking on 'TX' from a pre-set slicer/dashboard or clicking '1' (capital) then 'TX' via a slicer/dashboard.

Thank you

Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

2013 allows you to attach a slicer to a Table IIRC.
