I am building a work tracker that will tell me how many days it takes to complete a particular project. I want my tracker to count the days it takes for a project to be completed based on the date it opened and the date it closed. I used this formula to automatically count the days for me: =IF(B2="","",TODAY()-B2)

When I went to input dates for older projects I already received, the formula did not work anymore. Do I need a separate counter for the older projects versus the current counter for new projects? If not, how can I capture older dates with my current formula?

The project name is in A2; Date Received B2; Days in Review (where the forumla is in) C2; Date Completed D2.

I did not know how to cut and paste the sheet or screenshot so I wrote it out.

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
It worked like a charm! Conditional formatting also worked. Thank you very much for your assistance. Do you have a book or source you can recommend for someone with little knowledge of Excel, like myself, to read so that I can become proficient in this program. It is a great tool, I just do not understand the language and would like to learn.

I'm glad you were able to work it out.

The only book I read was given to me by Bill Jelen and it was for Excel '97. This board is a great source of information, but so is the internet. You Tube has tons of tutorials. check out Bill's You Tube tutorials.
