Functional compatability issues regarding SharePoint and Excel

I have created a rather large excel multi-workbook process that has been moved to a SharePoint platform. The excel programs/processes have inherent within their structure a host of interactive links within individual worksheets in a given workbook and links between workbooks. The SharePoint files have a message at the top that state that links to external files have been disabled and that links between workbooks are not supported and have been disabled. Is there any kind of work-around to remedy this? The action of migrating these files from shared drives to SharePoint is part of an attempt on the part of my company to reduce the company's server operating costs and was executed with no concern regarding the ongoing requirement to perpetuate functionality present in the migrated excel files.

In my company we use SharePoint and I am able to link different books and work with them. What I have to do if I create the links before in a location different from SharePoint is re-create the links because when files are upload to the SharePoint site these links get broken. The problem we are facing is the large latency...
