I know this is probaly a no brainer (for those with a brain-heh), but is there a way to get the row number of a specific item, perhaps using vlookup ?

example -- Cells A1, A2 and A3 contain the following data respectively

DOG
CAT
MOUSE

I need a function that will tell me that CAT is in Row 2

ok so I solved the first part or my problem, Use the cell reference C3 rather than the quote " cat" and it returns the row I am looking for.

Now I am trying to solve how I can get the cursor to go directly to the row.

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
