Hi everyone,

I am new to Vlookup and am comparing two columns in one spreadsheet tab to multiple columns of data in another tab. If the data is found in the second tab, then return the 6th column in the second tab.

For instance,
The first tab, cell C2 contains transactions, cell E2 contains the corresponding accounting module.

Second sheet contains several columns one with the accounting module and another with the transactions.

If the transactions in the first page are found in the second spreadsheet then return a value found in 2nd spreadsheet.

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Here is the first link I found on vlookup. I prefer index match. How to Use INDEX MATCH

Code:
=INDEX('Sheet Name'!FullRange,MATCH('Sheet Name'!LookupValueCell,'Sheet Name'!LookupValueSingleColumnRange,0),Column # in Full Range to return)

Example, Looks at data in A2:C10 of the "First Sheet" Sheet and looks through C2:C10 for the value in A2 on second sheet. It will return the value in the row that matches in column 2.
Code:
=INDEX('First Sheet'!A2:C10,MATCH(SecondSheet!A2,'First Sheet'!C2:C10,0),2)
