I remember a device that fitted into a SLR film camera and turned it into a Digital Camera - But as they went through development - cheaper digital cameras appeared and it never goto to market

It seems like there would also be an issue with wearing long-sleeved shirts? I guess it would be fine for summer or tropical climates, but if you have a winter season, not too handy.

Color me skeptical:

Compare that to projected keyboards (e.g., http://www.ctxtechnologies.com/products/vk-200-keyfob-virtual-keyboard/); there, the exit pupil is two inches above a (flat)surface, and the resolution is soft. Now try to do that from 1/4" above the surface, in color, on an irregular surface.

Maybe a wrist-worn, flexible OLED. Or just a wrist strap for your iPhone ...
