Microsoft Word Mail Merge

Has anyone been successful in using mail merge, with a list that can send multiple emails in the 'To' field of the email? I've tried the semi-colon to separate them as well as the recommended comma, when I Googled it. Is there a way to do it without using Mail Merge through Google docs?
