I have been asked to carry out the following:

  • "HIGHLIGHT WHAT TARGETS HAVE BEENHIT and WHAT IS THE GAP TO HITTING A TARGET

    I have data of what the sales target was supposed to be and what peoples individual targets were.

    How can i:
    1. Bess display this is a graph. What graph is recommended? Bar chart or line graph?
    2. How to calculate the gap to hitting target? how do i calculate this?

Excel Facts

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Hello Emmaslev1!

I'd ask your employer for examples of previous work - that might help a lot in deciding the best way to display this data. Personally I don't think a line graph would work very well, but I could be wrong. Line graphs are typically used to represent things happening over a period of time. If you are comparing multiple sales people the lines wouldn't make much sense. A bar graph could be very visually compelling & it would highlight the gap between the target & the actual achieved sales.

To figure out the gap between the target & what was achieved subtract the achieved from the goal: that is the gap.

Gap = Goal - Achieved
