I have a pivot table with two columns that are averages. When I insert a calculated field to subtract one from the other it looks like I am getting the sum of the differences

something like

Item target weight avg actual weight diff
abc 10.00 10.50 59.75

should be 10.00 10.50 .50

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
I would make a column next to the pivot table with the formula =abs(b2-c2) then drag it down.
