I'm working in Excel 2016. I have the following typed into a merged cell 11/5 to 11/9/18.

I want this information (11/5 to 11/9/18) to repeat in other cells instead of typing it over multiple times. I used the formula =CELL("content",a1), however this is bringing back the result of #VALUE !

Originally the information (11/5 to 11/9/18) was formatted as date so I changed it to text but it didn't change the outcome.

What would you suggest for a solution?

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Hi Dorothy,

You were very close. You can use =CELL("contents",A1) instead of "content", which is an invalid parameter and will always return #VALUE ! error. Alternatively, try =TEXT(A1,"@")

Just out of curiosity, why don't you simply use =A1 ?
