I've searched the forum and I've Googled. No joy. :(

Is anyone sending SMS messages using VBA? I'm happy to subscribe to a paid service but before I do that I'd like to be fairly sure it can be driven from a VBA app, even if it's form-based and I have to automate an IE session.

(I know some mobile phone networks map an email address on to their numbers but I don't think they all do, and the solution has to be able to cope with any number, including an overseas one.)

Excel Facts

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
I don't have details as such

we used to from work push an external website with information from an excel spreadsheet to do automated paging everyday

we also have something tagged into our outlook where sending as an +4478645377@company.co.uk will send the message body as SMS

so it must be possibly to drive outlook from excel to send sms

Thanks, I'll definitely check that out.

And of course I'll post the outcome here.

First of all, thanks for the various suggestions and recommendations.

I found one Web site (http://www.mutube.com/projects/open-email-to-sms/gateway-list/) which claims to list the methods for sending emails to SMS recipients but I couldn't get this to work with O2, Virgin or Vodafone mobiles so I gave that up. TANSTAAFL!

I ended up using http://www.txtlocal.co.uk/ which charges a maximum of 4.9p per text message and provides a Web interface as well as a programming API which works like a dream.
