i want first name of customer in next column using text furmula.

but what is the use of SUBSTITUTE function here ? i cant understand this 1

SUBSTITUTE will replace the word in B1 from cell A1 with ""(nothing).
In first case (Vishan Singh) the first name will be replaced with "" living Singh in C1
