I cannot figure out how to create a macro that when you hold down say the A button then click on a cell it would fill that cell to a desired color

Excel Facts

Back into an answer in Excel
Use Data, What-If Analysis, Goal Seek to find the correct input cell value to reach a desired result
Sub RED()
'
' RED Macro
'
' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+Y
'
With Selection.Interior
.Pattern = xlSolid
.PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
.Color = 255
.TintAndShade = 0
.PatternTintAndShade = 0
End With
End Sub
