Is it possible to use a vlookup to produce a number of results…

I have a list of surnames, and I want to use the vlookup to find all the Smiths in the list, obviously a basic vlookup only brings back the first Smith it finds….

=vlookup(A1, download,1,false) , where A1 is some sort of search box for users

or is there a simple VB solution??

You could also take an entirely different approach and use MS Query (available from within Excel) to make the data selection. ...

Dan, Thanks for your suggestion. I have already worked some of the kinks out of my macro, but it seems like MS Query may be something to look into as well! Thanks for the great solution

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Just found this old thread, and its perfect except I need a name to define a Time instead of a number or date like the other examples given. The format of the time in the cells its referencing is like 5.00pm or 7.15pm etc
