Hello all,

I've got several large excel files that I use during the month end accounting process. These files are around 44,000 KB or so and have pivot tables and formulas inside them to calculate our sales and profit by product family. After I get the data summaries I need and close the files, I always have ".xlk" files in the same file folder as the working file. The type is "Microsoft Office Excel Backup File". I haven't been able to find out the setting to turn off this automatic backup, any thoughs on where the setting is located?

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Choose File|Save As, click the dropdown next to Tools (at the top) and choose General Options. There is a CheckBox for 'Always create backup'.

Goto Save As-->Tools-->General Options-->Uncheck "Always create backup".

Am I understanding correctly that this setting must be changed for EACH FILE and there is no way to turn it off globally?
