I have a list which is filtered. The results of the filter consists of 10 rows. Is there a way to get Excel to number the results for me (1-10)?

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Let A1:B7 be the area to which you apply AutoFilter or Advanced Filter in place...

Enter a label in C1.
In C2 enter & copy down:

=SUBTOTAL(3,$A$1:A1)

Beautiful man, just beautiful! This subtotal formula is just what I needed. I recently read the difference between subtotal and running total and I didn't get it. I get it now. I have 16,000 rows to filter so it takes a few seconds to calculate, but when it's done my results are numbered from top to bottom!

THANKS!
