Hi,

When I try to open an excel file through explorer, from a directory or from the desktop (shortcut or full file), when I double click them, Excel opens and go through the motions of opening them (but they don't open. and I see the word ready in the bottom left hand corner.

I have reinstalled Office (2003) but still have the same error. I can only seem to access the file by opening Excel then going via open function.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
In Excel, go to Tools, Options, General and uncheck Ignore other Applications

I'm not sure which I am more amazed at; the fact that there is a check button to sort out such a problem or the fact that you knew it !!

That's brilliant - thanks so much for your help - greatly appreciated
