Is it possible to show a table on a chart?

ie. Display a Range of Cells right on the chart?

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
You mean a table of values used for the chart? If so it is in the Chart Options

Right click the chart
select Chart Options
Select Data Table tab
check the Show Data Table

If not can you explain?

Not the table of values that creates the lines on the chart. But a different table - for example a table that may show range, period, average values of the data on the chart.

Anyone else have any ideas on this?

You might try this:
1. Select your range of cells from desired table area
2. Hold down the Shift Key, click Edit/Copy Picture
3. Click OK.
4. Go to desired Chart, Edit/Paste, then position/size as needed.
5. Just a picture, but could be worth 1,000 words!
Anyone else?

It pastes to the chart when I follow the steps. By the way, nice trick IndianTrix. If you have the chart selected and it does not paste there where does it paste? now on the update question. Perhaps you could do some VBA with some event code to get it to update. Just an idea. But first you have to get the paste working. Then work the other out.

It will update if you use the Camera Tool to copy your data table.
How to use Camera Tool:

choose Tools, Customize in Excel. In the Commands tab choose the Tools category. In the list of commands at the right side of the dialog box you'll find the Camera icon slightly below the mid-point of the list. Click and drag the icon to a convenient toolbar in your Excel workspace.
