Hello I have a data set and want to create a pivot(?) with text as values It is easier if I show you an example:

Name Class
Dave Science
Dave Math
Dave English
Susan Math
Susan English
Mary Art
Jason Art
Jason Math

And I want my result to be as follows:

Dave: Science Math English
Susan: Math English
Mary: Art
Jason: Art Math

Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
You must have a Data field in a pivot table. You can do this:

Excel 2003
DEFGH
1Count of ClassClass
2NameArtEnglishMathScience
3Dave111
4Jason11
5Mary1
6Susan11
Sheet3

Hello Thank you for the response, the problem I have with this method is that I have 5000 names and about 500 classes. The reason I want to make a table in the fashion I showed is to use that table in a lookup to add to a bigger table.

hi,

Text can be returned in a cross-tab report. I've posted several times in the past but i can't search for old posts right now.

regards
