Can anyone help me simple this is I know but just had a brain meltdown!

I am putting together a document for which I have done a contents page at the start.

I have put in the first subject and I have bookmarked the heading called Firm Order

I have placed numbers manually in and placed the hyperlink to the bookmark……

Well I am sure you can put a page number in so if I move that heading to Page 2 after inserting a new subject before it will be then automaticlly update with the new page number ?

Can you help I hope you can ?

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Is this in Word?

If so, as long as you use Heading1, Heading2, Heading3 styles you can build a dynamic table of contents and update it any time you want.

It's under the Insert menu, but do a search for Table of Contents and see how you go with that.

Hi Simon,

If you use Heading styles, as Denis suggests, that makes it very easy for Word to buld the Table of Contents for you - all you need to do is to insert a TOC field (see under Insert|Field).

If, for some reason, you can't use Heading Styles, you can still use a TOC field, but you'll have to tell it to use your bookmark(s).

Cheers
