Count unique rows with exception

I have a tricky one and cannot seem to find anything searching the web related and im not sure how to phrase it. I am currently working with this formula...

=IFERROR(ROWS(UNIQUE(FILTER(IHC!$A$3:$A$40000,(IHC!$N$3:$N$40000=Summary!B51)*((IHC!$J$3:$J$40000="Open")+(IHC!$J$3:$J$40000="Processing"))*(IHC!$D$3:$D$40000<>"Hemepath")))),"-")

which basically says to count unique rows if employee name matches, status is "processing" or "open" and it did not come from "Hemepath". One factor we did not take into account is the dates. Somehow i need to add a criteria that says if the dates in column O are the same then only count the rows for that date 1x, however, if the dates are different then count it 2x or 3x based on how many different dates there are.

In this example, AB23455 should be counted 2x for Mel because she handled the code on 7/12 then again on 7/13.

hopefully this makes sense.

@ExceLoki This didnt work when i applied it to the entire month. My original formula was showing Mel at 861 total unique codes for the month but your formula is showing her at 21 for the month. Target total should be 916 for the month.

Here is a larger sample. In this set there are 61 unique codes, however the target should be 66 as there are 5 codes that were worked on different days. AB23455, AS233173, MD1353, RT10918, and UT10626

ive been messing around with a few different formula options most of the day and still cannot seem to find anything. the most promissing ive been able to find is a sum(if(countifs))) nest but as soon as i add multiple criteria to the if statement it stops calculating. Any other thoughts to try?

Sorry for the delay in my response. i didnt realize you responded. i truely appreciate all the effort you put in trying to help with this. unfortunately this is just a really tricky one-off. apparently needing to count rows(unique(filter())) with multiple criteria and where you have 2 unique columns isnt very common. maybe this will help someone else.

1.) in the original post i needed unique values from both A and O but with a helper column it became A and E. The filter array was originally only A:A but with multiple unique columns it needed to be the 1st and last unique columns plus my criteria so i built the filter function:​
1.) FILTER(IHC!$A$3:$E$40000,(IHC!$Q$3:$Q$40000=Summary!B9)*((IHC!$M$3:$M$40000="Open")+(IHC!$M$3:$M$40000="Processing"))*(IHC!$G$3:$G$40000<>"Hemepath"))​

2.) Because i have multiple unique columns i needed to count I needed to wrap the whole thing in another filter() where the above base formula is now the array and true/false the columns to include. Since i need a combo unique value from both A and E it became (1,0,0,0,1).​
2.) FILTER(FILTER(IHC!$A$3:$E$40000,(IHC!$Q$3:$Q$40000=Summary!B9)*((IHC!$M$3:$M$40000="Open")+(IHC!$M$3:$M$40000="Processing"))*(IHC!$G$3:$G$40000<>"Hemepath")),{1,0,0,0,1})​
3.) From there wrap the whole thing again in the rows(unique()) functions to get the unique counts so I ended up with this​
3.) ROWS(UNIQUE(FILTER(FILTER(IHC!$A$3:$E$40000,(IHC!$Q$3:$Q$40000=Summary!B9)*((IHC!$M$3:$M$40000="Open")+(IHC!$M$3:$M$40000="Processing"))*(IHC!$G$3:$G$40000<>"Hemepath")),{1,0,0,0,1})))​

Another example would be if i needed unique values from B and C and K then the array portion would be B:K in the first fiter and the include of the second filter would be (1,1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1).
