I have 3 merged cells - I know we should try to avoid merged cells but it is needed for proper graphical representation of a schedule.

Example: D35:D377 with value "YES"

Is there a way to automatically equate 3 separate cells to this merged cell's value? Example, E35=D35, E36 =D35, E37=D37, each indicating "YES"

When I set the formula for E35 (=D35) and drag down to E37, E35 = "YES" but the E36 and E37 are left blank. Attached is an example.

I tried this formula =IF(D35="",IF(D34="",D33,D34),D35). This doesn't seem to work since it will populate cells even if a merge cell doesn't exist for that row and will incorrectly look at a previous merged cell.

Appreciate any help. TIA!

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
You can try it differently, referencing to the cell above it: =IF(D35="",E34,D35)
