I have created a 3d column chart which I would like to apply a gradient traffic light type fill to, so that shorter columns might appear all green, longer ones green at the bottom becoming amber further up, and the tallest ones going from green through amber to red at the top. The basic idea is to show lower 'safe' levels in green progressing through amber for levels that need monitoring and showing red for 'danger' levels. Is this possible in Excel 2007? I'm not great with VBA but prepared to give it a go. All help greatly received.

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Not sure I really understand your question.

The columns are all the same length in a spreadsheet so I must be misunderstanding something here. If you're trying to fill a bar as a gradient I think somewhere you'd need to use a percentage.

Could do with a bit more information really
