I need to look throught his table and Idenfify by the Field PLNT each Plant in the table then also look at the color to count how many of each color I have. The below sheet contains what I am refering to.

Using the COUNTIFS function i can get the total number for each plnt .. but can not get the number matching the colors. Any help would be appreciated.

Once you add this to the spread sheet VBA you can then use the function =Sumcolor(H1,E320:E40) and it will sum all the cells in the range that match it's own background colour.

I have the same code that you sent me and work great to get the background colours.... but it does it for the whole spreadsheet (table). What I need is the same thing once i have specified a specific plnt i would like the data from. Any idea's?

Sorry Grecor, Not quite understanding what you are after . Once this code is in place you can use the function to select the range it is working on. But this is a sum so you may need another column which contains a 1. then do a conditional format so if Plnt = 9524 then red if plnt = 9535 then Blue. You then have a table with each plant and the cell is =the correct colour in the cell next to each plnt enter in your sum cell =sumcolour(Cell,Range ) and you should get the correct count returned. Not at home at the min but if I get a min later I will see if I can make it work on an example.

Hi Grecor, I have done a bit of testing and it would appear that the sumcolour dose not work with conditional formation. If you set the cells to change colour on a condition then the cell is not counted but if you change the cell to the same colour by formatting it then it is counted. So sorry but I do not currently know the answer to this one.
