How would forecast how long it will take?

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with an excel formulas and set up for this and advise the best approach

I want to work out things...

1) How much staff ill need each day
2) How much will be outstanding each day
3) How long will it take to complete work or come to a stage where incoming is matching to resolution..
4) Based on what should be resolved- calculate the difference between what is being resolved against predicted resolution

I have a set of values i get every Monday morning to give how much work is outstanding in my team...
say 10,000

Based on the incoming prediction daily and the actual resolution each day and average handling time of 600 seconds, I want to calculate

how much will be outstanding each day for next 6 weeks..

give a figure of how long it will take to resolve everything or come to a stage where the incoming will be the same as resolved

how are we doing against actual resolution vs actual resolution and how many staff is required each day to resolve the work

please help me structure thisset up

Could you give some more information by using the XL2BB tool (the green box in the options in the reply menu). It would be helpful to know how many employees are on the team and what kind of measurement is 10,000, is it minutes, hours, or something else completely? Give an example of how you receive that data (how it's formatted ect.). Give an example of an actual resolution time.

Hiya i dont have access to excel at the moment but as an example

A2 = 10,000 (Outstanding Pieces of work)
A3 = 1200 (Incoming amount predicted)
A4 = 600 (The amount work predicted to be resolved based on history)

A5 = 500seconds (The expected handling time for each work)
A6 = Calculate FTE requirement based on a 7.4 hours working day

So in column B, C, D etc in the corresponding cells - Calculate what predicted be left, resolved and FTe required

that way and can predict how long it will take to complete or get to a position where can handle whats outstanding and Incoming
