Hi all, I have a dataset where I need to convert alot of UOM & prices.

I need a formula or macro that will help me, if my (Col C) contains 'Pack of 8 KG' create a new line, copying contents of Cols A, B & E, insert 'Kilogram' as Col C, divide (Col D) Price by 8 and insert 'todaydate' in Col F and if Col C contains 'Pack of 25 KG' dived Col D by 25 and if....

In future, please make it easier for people to help you by providing sample data in a form that we can easily copy. MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.

thanks Peter, unfortunately my employer isnt allowing me to install any add-ins, so im having to do this from home. When I try to run the VBA code you have provided im getting run time error 9, subscript out of range? what am i doing wrong?

If post 3 is some of your original data then what you did wrong was not give representative sample data and instruction in post 1. ;)

In that post every value in column C was "Pack of n KG" and your description was ..

.. which again indicated nothing other than "Pack of n KG" in col C.

At this stage you still have not shown or told us what should happen if column C is simply "Kilogram" or if there are even more different types of values that can appear in column C

OK - as always I need to clarify the question get the answer im seeking. im sorry.

IF the UOM is 'Pack of n UOM' return UOM value, 'divide price by n'. ie
'Pack of 10 KG' needs to convert to Kilogram, price divide by 10,
'Pack of 12 Each' needs to convert to Each, price divide by 12.

All other values can to stay as is (there are a few). Image below shows all UOM values. The 'Pack of n UOM' is my focus

As the project progresses there will be conversions required for specicfic items only (identified by Column A) based on Carton/PKT/Roll UOM's
I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!

Looks like even more variety is possible so please:
  1. Make up a small set of dummy data with columns A:F for each of the highlighted items below and post that with XL2BB
  2. For the sample data created for 1 above, manually create the expected results and post that with XL2BB

Thanks. That is a considerably bigger sample than I asked for, but since you have given it, why have the highlighted rows below been completely omitted from the expected results?
