Hello,

I am using Windows 7 and Excel 2010.

Please help me with this formula. I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that when a number is produced, an "X" corresponds with the number in another box.

Thank you,

Frankie :)http://

Update:

Hello Aladin,

For some reason, the formula didn't work. I copied and pasted it. The formula was left in the cell. What did i do wrong?

Thank you Aladin. :)

You mean you see the formula, not a result. If so, try the following recipe:

Find/Replace

Find what: =

Replace with =

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Thank you dear Aladin,

I will try, i'm not too familiar with formulas, complex ones anyway. Thank you for responding! :)

Hi Frankie,

Try these steps

1. In cell CF98, type this: =IF(CF$76<>"",REPT("X",COUNTIF($F98:$I98,CF$76)),"")
2. press Return. In the example you've supplied CF98 should still be blank, but the formula bar should show the text (including the '=' symbol) shown above.
3. Right Click on CF98 and select copy. The cell should be highlighted with a dashed line.
4. Now left click and hold on cell CF98 and drag this selection across to CX101 then release the left mouse button, a rectangle of cells should now be highlighted.
5. Right click anywhere within the highlighted rectangle and select paste.
6. You should have copied the formula above to all the cells highlighted and excell will have taken care of ensuring the cell references are updated.

Hope this helps

Hello pjmorris,

I'm quite sure it's something i'm doing. I'll send you the whole spreadsheet tomorrow. The one i posted was smaller because of space constraints. I really appreciate your help!! :)

Thank you! :)

Frankie :)
