So heres my problem.. I emailed the time sheet calculator that I use to a coworker and she mentioned that she used it all week and it didn't match the sign-off sheet she got last Monday on her time. So this week I compared mine and it doesn't match either. I'm going to attach my sheet andlink to a pic of the one my work gave me today and hopefully one of you can help me figure this out.
** They take a 30 minute lunch out even if I don't clock out all day so I worked that into my formula in column G.

The formula in E is [@[Actual Hrs]]
G is (E6-(IF(F6>0,F6/60,0.5)))

And here is the picture of my time sheet.

Are they rounding in some way that I'm not understanding? Mondays time I thought was just rounding but they lost me there on Thursday when 1:32-2:32 = 56 Minutes

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Your timecard is what appears to be wrong. Even if you assume 30 minute lunches, they appear to be subtracting something else your login/logout entries.

1/11: 7:57AM - 4:00PM is 8:03 (hh:mm). Timecard says 7:30.
That's a loss of 33 minutes (assuming 30 for lunch that leaves 3 minutes unaccounted for).

1/12: 7:54AM - 4:42PM is 8:48 (hh:mm). Timecard says 8:12.
That's a loss of 36 minutes (assuming 30 for lunch that leaves 6 minutes unaccounted for).

1/13: 8:19AM - 5:05PM less 58 minutes is 7:48 (hh:mm). Timecard has 2 entries for 3:20 and 4:28 (7:48 total)
This day you and your timecard agree.

1/14: 7:59AM - 5:15PM less 69 minutes is 8:07 (hh:mm). Timecard has 3 entries for 5:06, 0:56, and 2:00 (8:02).
That's a loss of 5 minutes.

1/15: 8:00AM - 5:28PM is 9:28 (hh:mm). Timecard says 8:58.
This also appears to match, if you subtract 30 minutes for lunch.

So some of these days do have discrepancies, and it appears to be a problem with the timecard application and it looks like it's more than rounding error. You may want to ask your management, though I suspect there will be a simple explanation.

any potential that they limit "non work" hors, or round based on those? ie, if they say work starts at 8, you lose the 3 min from 7:57 - 8:00 on the 11th, that accounts for 6 min on the 12th - it looks like the 2 punches on the 13th and 15th are both fine and both days the punch in was 8 or later. Not sure about the 14th, but It wouldn't surprise me based on some of the places I've worked.

ah, I think the 14th you should have put 65 minutes for break instead of 69 - there's 4 out of the missing 5 min and the punch in was at 7:59 so there's the other 1. I bet you they don't pay til 8, no matter what time you punch in.

That's a good catch.

Hopefully it's justified and not a sketchy business practice by the company.

That's what it looks like. Unfortunately, it's pretty standard practice; come in early and no one cares, come in 1 minute late and you won't get paid for it.

Thanks everyone.. Apparently between the hours of 7A-8A they round upwards in 15 minute intervals.. So if I clock in at 7:46 its 8

Also, I left two times on that Thursday.. The first time was 26 minutes for lunch, which I took quickly because I knew I had to run home later, the second was the remainder of the minutes. They consider your first clock out of the day your "lunch" no matter what amount of time you take, so that clock out is rounded up to 30 minutes. I thought I was doing myself a favor not taking the whole 30 minutes there, whereas every minute less than 30 I was here was taken from me at the end anyways. Silly.
