Joining Cells...A1 has social security numbers (123-45-6789). B1 has the name John Doe. I want C1 to be "John Doe 45-6789". Thank you all.

Hi,

It sounds to me like your SSNs are just a 9 digit number formatted as SSN.

Try one of these:

Book3.xlsx
ABCDEF
1123-45-6789John DoeJohn Doe 45-6789John Doe 45-6789
Sheet937
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
D1D1=B1&" "&REPLACE(RIGHT(A1,6),3,0,"-")
F1F1=B1&" "&MID(A1,4,2)&"-"&RIGHT(A1,4)
That's the one !!!! I just switched the A1 and B1, Thank you. The REPLACE

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
