Lost Macros :(

Hi

I had a bunch of Macros saved in my personal workbook that I can no longer view/edit/use.

If I try to edit the Personal Workbook when I save it I get an error saying:
"Errors were detected while saving (personal workbook directory location), Microsfot Excel may be able to save the file by removing or repairing some features. To makes the repairs in a new file, click continue. To cancel saving the file, click Cancel"


I am also unable to record Macros, when I try to record I get another error saying:
"The syntax of this name isn't correct. Verify that the name:
- Starts with a letter or underscore
- Doesn't include a space or character that isn't allowed
-Doesn't conflict with an existing name in the workbook

As a suggestion. If the Personal Workbook opens when you open Excel go to the module(s) in the personal workbook and copy them to a folder to start with then you've got them as a backup.

Next you would need to see if there is a conflict with the personal workbook folder location to see if it exists or if there is an issue.

What happens if you close the personal workbook and then look to record a macro into a new workbook just to see if it will record.

What have you tried (naming) when you've tried to record. I'm not suggesting you haven't followed a correct convention.

I'm sure others will make further suggestions that may help as I've not had this problem.

Thank you for your reply.

If I close the personal workbook it won't let me record a macro.
I've tried naming it all things with no luck.
I've got backups of my macros

I suspect it could be to do with the fact it's on a work network that uses Box, it's perhaps something the IT team might be able to help with....?

Asking your IT team is a good idea as they may have already had the same question and found a solution.

If you have saved all your macros, why not just delete your Personal.xlsb file and then use Excel to create a new one and restore your saved macros to it?
