AMENDMENT!!!

Desired Action: When a text value is selected in column 1, a dependent drop-down list populates in the adjacent column 2, which in turn returns another dependent-drop-down list in adjacent column 3.

Column 1 : Transaction Type (options: Income, Expenses)
Column 2: Category
Column 3: Sub-Category

I could create a named range for Income (containing all the income categories) and the same for Expenses. But I want to avoid creating a named range for the Sub- Category (In column 3) as this would be restrictive to the user.

Does anyone know a work around for this?

click link for excel spreadsheet example.
