Hi,

I am reviewing an on call rota. I need to be able to automate allocation for each of the week days whilst also ensuring that weekends are fairly distributed and not falling too close to the week day on call.
Example, 14 on rota, I would expect 1 person to have a weekday on call and a weekend day in the same week, this should be spread across the 2 weeks.
Is it possible to automate this? Thanks

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
I'm guessing a rota is a work schedule, is that right? Is this a seven day workweek? Are they supposed to have 2 consecutive days off (one being an on call)?
Mr. Excel has a tool, called xl2bb add in (link below) that allows you to post mini worksheets of your data. Can you use that to post your sample data and an expected output?

Welcome to the Mr. Excel forum, and thanks in advance.

(If you cannot use the add in, then please post a TABLE of your data; while images are helpful you'll get a much faster response (if any) by posting copy-able data).
