Good afternoon

Is it possible to rank as per below as I am trying to record how many times something has been done by a person on a daily basis.
I am trying to rank the data so I can use the first instance of the day later in another formula.
ie, if Rank is 1 vlookup another table and pull information in.

"Due Date" is in format "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm" as per custom and "Assigned to" is text

Hopefully this is a simple question, but I have been going round in circles this afternoon

thanks in advance
Gavin

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
How about like
Excel Formula:
=COUNTIFS(D:D,D2,B:B,"<"&B2)+1

apologies @Fluff ,

I think I have made a mistake on on this as Column D is the expected rank I was looking for based on the following
A = Would be the date I am using
C = Agent Name

Not sure if this is possible as I am trying to rank them based on the date/time per agent for each day(date)

Looking to see how many times the agent name appears for each date, so that when the first instance appears I can align another piece of data to it if possibe

thanks

In that case try
Excel Formula:
=COUNTIFS(C:C,C2,A:A,"<"&A2)+1

thanks @Fluff, but it seems to rank based on all the dates in column A from start to finish (ie 01/06/23 to 28/07/23) and it counts "Agent A" as 111 times which is correct, but is there a way to get it to only count within the same day?

It seems to work if I only do 1 days worth of data for some reason

thanks

In that case can you post some sample data.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.
